Victoria + Bryson's Beach Engagement Session

I just adore this whole session and couldn’t wait to get it up on the blog for you guys to see the whole thing! But I’ll start with this, this session was not exactly supposed to look like this! When Victoria contacted me she told me they envisioned a beach session for their engagement pictures, we decided on Rutherford Beach in Cameron Parish because the location was close and easy for them to access! Our plan was to meet and shoot in an area of open grassland and oak trees until the sun had softened on the beach just in time for that perfect sunset glow! However, we arrived to our first spot and were SWARMED.. no ENGULFED, by mosquitoes like I have never seen before (and I grew up in Cameron Parish so trust me, I know mosquitoes). There was no possible way we were going to be able to shoot in any grassy areas! So with that, we decided to head to the beach and make a whole new game plan! I was very anxious because it was still early in the day and not a cloud in the sky and shooting in direct strong sunlight is not my style. It’s tricky and I just naturally prefer soft sunset light BUT in this situation I had to push myself creatively and make it work for Victoria and Bryson! Then the next issue arose, the wind on the beach was super strong! We had a little talk before we started shooting and decided to embrace all the elements and let it roll! Honestly, now, I’m glad it happened this way because I love the candid style of this whole session and I love the look and contrast of the direct light photos. Sometimes it’s rewarding to be pushed out of your comfort zone and forced to chanel your creativity! As the sun set we changed outfits into their pretty soft whites and the sunset glow was glorious for the end of their sesion! I love the contrast of these two looks, you’d think it was two different sessions! Overall, I fell in love with this session as I was shooting it and then again as I was editing it! Also, Victoria and Bryson was the absolute sweetest couple, so in love so easy to photograph, and rolled with all the punches and all my ideas with full trust in me and I love that! I’m so glad they chose me as their photographer!

So definitely scroll through and let me know what you think!
